Depression relief that doesn't
depend on another prescription.

Deep TMS — an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment that works differently than medication. Led by Dr. David Roth, Louisville's triple-board-certified psychiatrist, right here at Bluegrass Advanced Mental Health.

You've tried the medications. You've managed the side effects. And you're still waiting to feel like yourself again.

Maybe it was the weight gain. The emotional numbness. The fatigue that made even small tasks feel impossible. Maybe the first antidepressant helped a little, the second one didn't, and by the third you started wondering if anything was going to work.

If you're a parent reading this, maybe you've watched your teenager struggle through the same cycle — medication adjustments, therapy appointments, missed school days — and you're exhausted too.

That exhaustion — the one that comes from treatment after treatment that doesn't deliver — is real. And it's not your fault.

You Deserve A Real Solution

Still struggling after trying multiple antidepressants?

TMS works differently. It doesn't enter your bloodstream. It doesn't cause the side effects you've been enduring. It targets the part of your brain that regulates mood — directly, gently, and while you're fully awake.

Where TMS Can Help

More than just depression — TMS can help where mood is at the root.

Plain-Language Education

A depression treatment that works with your brain, not against your body.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation — TMS — uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in the areas of your brain that regulate mood. Think of it like physical therapy for the parts of your brain that depression has quieted down.

What Makes Deep TMS Different

Bluegrass uses the BrainsWay Deep TMS system.

Bluegrass uses the BrainsWay Deep TMS system, which reaches broader and deeper brain regions than traditional TMS coils — associated with higher response rates.

Sessions, Without The Side Effects

You stay clear-headed throughout treatment.

Unlike oral antidepressants, TMS doesn't circulate through your bloodstream. That means no weight gain. No sexual side effects. No fatigue. No emotional blunting. You stay clear-headed throughout.

It's been wonderful working with Dr. Roth. I really do appreciate him, as I've been through many psychiatrists since I was a kid due to my brain injury. He’s definitely been the most understanding by far.

A Typical Treatment Session

20–40 minutes per session, read, listen to music, or just close your eyes. Then you drive yourself home.

You're in a comfortable chair, fully alert and aware — no sedation, no IV. Some patients read, listen to music, or simply close their eyes.

A padded helmet is positioned gently on your head. You'll hear a clicking sound and feel a light tapping sensation on your scalp as the magnetic pulses are delivered.

When it's over, you drive yourself home or back to work. No downtime, no sedation — no one will know you were in treatment.

How It Works

Standard or accelerated protocols, five times a week or condensed into days. Read, listen to music, or just rest.

Advanced science. Louisville heart.

You're treated by a physician, not a protocol.

Dr. David Roth personally oversees every TMS treatment plan and adjusts your protocol based on how you're actually responding.

We invested in BrainsWay Deep TMS.

The H-coil reaches deeper and broader than a standard figure-8 coil — targeting the prefrontal cortex areas most implicated in depression.

Standard or accelerated — your choice.

Traditional daily TMS, or accelerated protocols including condensed 5-day options for busy schedules.

Adolescents and adults, both welcome.

A non-medication option for young people, with families included in the healing process.

We're not a corporate chain — we're your neighbors. Bluegrass was founded by Dr. Roth, a third-generation Louisvillian, and built on relationships, trust, and community.

Real People. Real Care.

A doctor who came home to Louisville to change how mental health care feels.

Dr. David Roth is a triple-board-certified psychiatrist specializing in adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and pediatrics — the only combination of its kind in Louisville.

After years of clinical innovation in the San Francisco Bay Area, working alongside national leaders in interventional psychiatry and neuromodulation, Dr. Roth made a deliberate choice: return home to Kentucky and build a center of hope and healing for the community he loves.

When you come to Bluegrass, you'll sit down with Dr. Roth. He'll listen to your story, answer every question, and build a treatment plan that makes sense for your life.

Two Paths To Relief

One treatment that changes everything.

Not everyone's life looks the same. That's why Bluegrass offers two TMS protocols — so your treatment fits your schedule, not the other way around.

Standard TMS

  • One session per day, 5 days a week
  • 4–6 week treatment course
  • Each session ~20 minutes
  • Ideal for a steady, traditional schedule

Accelerated TMS

  • Multiple sessions per day, condensed schedule
  • Options include 5-day protocols
  • Same technology, same physician oversight
  • Ideal for tighter timelines or travel

Dr. Roth will help you determine which protocol is right for you during your initial consultation. There's no wrong choice — only the one that fits your life.

Insurance & Payment

Advanced care shouldn't be out of reach.

We're in-network with most major insurers, and our team handles the entire prior authorization process for you. Before treatment begins, we'll provide complete cost transparency — no surprise bills, no guessing.

For patients without insurance or with high deductibles, we offer flexible payment options designed to reduce financial barriers. Let's have the conversation — openly, honestly, and without pressure.

Bluegrass accepts most major insurances. Our team handles prior authorization — so coverage is one less thing for you.

Most patients say no. You'll feel a tapping sensation on your scalp, and some experience mild scalp tenderness during the first week that fades quickly. Unlike ECT, TMS requires no anesthesia — you're awake and comfortable throughout.

Yes. TMS is FDA-cleared for adolescents aged 15 and older with major depressive disorder. Dr. Roth is board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, and our clinic is designed to feel safe and age-appropriate for teens.

Completely different treatments. ECT uses electrical currents to induce a seizure and requires anesthesia. TMS uses magnetic pulses — no electricity, no seizure, no anesthesia, no memory loss. You can drive yourself home afterward.

Some patients notice improvement as early as week two or three. Dr. Roth monitors your progress and adjusts your protocol based on your individual response. About 80% of patients see significant improvement; two-thirds reach full remission.

Most major plans cover TMS for treatment-resistant depression when certain criteria are met, typically a history of trying at least one antidepressant without adequate relief. Our team handles all prior authorizations.

No treatment works for everyone, but TMS has strong evidence behind it. If TMS isn't the right fit, Dr. Roth also offers Spravato (esketamine) therapy and comprehensive medication management.
